Gingerbread Gourd Ornaments and Globe

gingerbread1.JPG (84719 bytes)

First I stain a nice round bushel gourd. I use the shape of a cookie cutter and draw the shape all around the gourd. I am able to draw 5 shapes.

gingerbread2.JPG (125551 bytes)

I use my hand jigsaw to cut out the shapes.

gingerbread3.JPG (98896 bytes)

The hand jigsaw is so light and easy to use. You can acquire one from

www.micromark.com

gingerbread4.JPG (108506 bytes)

I easily cut out all 5 of the shapes.

gingerbread5.JPG (121617 bytes)

gingerbread10.JPG (116931 bytes)

gingerbread8.JPG (129241 bytes)

I cut a hole in the top and clean out the gourd pulp and seeds.

gingerbread9.JPG (119848 bytes)

I use a spoon and sand paper to clean out the rest.

gingerbread11.JPG (137336 bytes)

I paint the gingerbread piece like a gingerbread man using acrylic paints.

gingerbread12.JPG (108434 bytes)

I then seal him with Min Wax Polycrylic sealer

gingerbread13.JPG (123824 bytes)

After it dries I glued a ribbon on the back with a glue gun.

gingerbreadglobe.JPG (140386 bytes)

After cleaning all the pulp and seeds out I sand the inside as much as possible. I sealed it with sealer and place a metal tea light in the middle, then I light it.

Do not leave unattended.
