|

I never throw out gourd pieces, you never know what shape you will need. |

Measure your tail gourd piece and mark your gourd near to the bottom of your gourd so that the tail will lay nicely when your gourd is sitting flat. Pierce with a nail then insert hand jig saw and cut your hole. |
Insert your tail. Gourd piece for tail can be either a curved dipper gourd piece or even a banana gourd. |
Glue your nose on with super glue or a hot glue gun |
Put it to the top portion of your birdhouse gourd. |
Draw your ears on a flatter piece of gourd |
Cut your ears out using a hand jigsaw |
Sand your ears smooth |
Apply with super glue or a hot glue gun. |
Attach to the sides of your dogs head |
Now you are ready to fill in gaps with Elmers Carpenter's wood filler |
Elmers Carpenter's wood filler is cheap, it is strong when dry and it sands smoothly with a sanding sponge. |
Apply the wood filler around the nose |

|
Around the ears and the tail. Then let it dry. |
After it has dried completely you may sand it with a wet sanding sponge. I fine that the medium last longer and works just fine. |

You will notice that the wetness allows the wood filler to fill in its own cracks that may have come about when it is drying. |
Now basecoat your dog and it is ready to give it its personality. | |
