Water Cleaning Gourds

There has been much discussion on cleaning the inside of gourds, I have shown the tools I use to sand and clean out gourds safely dry. This is a page showing how you can clean out gourds wet. This enable you to not have to deal with the dust.

First I cut the thick gourd with my hand jigsaw.

I clean out what pulp I can by hand.

I filled the gourd with water and let it sit in the sink for about 2 hours.

I filled the gourd with water and let it sit in the sink for about 2 hours.

I let the top soak in the water as well.

This scallop shell has been very useful in cleaning gourds dry and wet.

After 15 minutes  I scrape out the inner pulp with my scalloped shell.

The pulp comes out much easier wet and no dust to worry about.

I used the chore boy to clean out anything loose.

I will now let it dry and then sand with sand paper to smooth out what I can.
